When I made my most recent change, I opened up two email accounts with the same provider; one for personal day to day use and one for my web sites and blog sites. No one has my web and blog site address except the services that provide those sites. The other one is the one that all my friends and family have. When I changed over to the new one, like everyone else, I sent out a mass mailing to friends and family informing them of my new address. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of not scrutinizing who I was including, which was a couple of people who think that every “joke” or “chain” email they get is the greatest thing since sliced bread and they mass mail them to everyone in their address book (I hadn’t heard from them much through my old email provider, as I guess they had overlooked my name before). These same people evidently spend a lot of time surfing the net for new stuff in the same category. The results have been that I am bombarded with this stuff from those friends, in some cases as many as 15-20 per day. And in each case, this is the only type of email I have ever gotten from them, so I have blocked their emails. But the damage is done.
A couple of weeks ago, Kiefer Sutherland entered that exclusive club, the Famous People Caught Driving with a BAC of Over .08. (FPCDWABOO.08 for short) (It’s not really catching on, though. I wonder why.) It’s just gotten kind of old. A new famous person drives drunk each week. They get caught. They might do some time, in either jail, or rehab. Yawn.
A couple of months ago, I emailed my pal and SO. I typed that I remember their comments about how things would be different now, that some friends would no longer be their friends anymore. I remarked that I hoped that it did not happen with us.
